Podcasts are a great alternative to listening to the radio during long commutes, or while you’re cleaning your house, cooking, or even during exercise! They can be very informative, so you can keep your body busy while maintaining an engaged mind. You can improve your mind while you’re improving your body. There are many topics in the iTunes podcast library, and you are sure to find one that will change your life. Here are my favorite 5 podcasts to listen to.
For Living the Optimized Life through good health and fitness.
This is actually the first podcast I started listening to, and it led me to the others on this list.
Onnit is a Total Human Optimization company that offers a wide variety of products from nutritional supplements to make you perform at your peak, to workout equipment like monkey-faced kettlebells, and yummy earth grown foods. What makes this company even cooler is that they provide actionable information in the form of blogs and podcasts to aid in your quest to be the best human you can possibly be. Aubrey Marcus, the CEO of Onnit, is the host and he brings on guests that range from olympic athletes to medical professionals.
This podcast dives deep into issues affecting our health. Host, Shawn Stevenson, is a life coach, author, and all around knowledgeable guy in the field of health and fitness. He sheds light on major impediments to our health and longevity with science, clarity, and a little bit of humor. From hydration to self-confidence, to sugar addiction, and stress, Shawn and his guests reveal the statistics and facts to breakdown the existing paradigms that prevent us from reaching our true potential. His solutions to reverse the damage done are truly the light at the end of the tunnel.
Thanks to Shawn, I’ve added and subtracted elements of my daily ritual that have made a significant difference in my life. The most profound include improving the quantity and quality of the water I drink and the sleep I get. Don’t get me started on shifts I’ve made to my diet. This podcast will add years to your life if you take what he says and apply it.
For exploring the multiple dimensions of your consciousness.
Have you ever asked yourself, “How and why do I exist?”
In addition to being the man behind Onnit, Aubrey is a writer, philosopher, journeyer into the depths of his consciousness, and much more. This podcast is an outlet for Aubrey’s spiritual side in contrast to the health and fitness topics discussed on the Total Human Optimization podcast. He talks about journeys into other dimensions with the help of plant medicine like Ayahuasca, interesting books he’s read, and the ancient philosophies he holds close. He shares his experiences and knowledge in an effort to illuminate the light in all of us and raise the collective consciousness.
For staying motivated.
Lewis Howes is a former pro athlete, and lifestyle entrepreneur that shares the tools to, “unlock your inner greatness.” He brings on many interesting guests that share how they take took their struggles and turned them into success stories. This podcast will stimulate your mind and motivate you to kick ass, accomplish your goals, and of course, discover your inner greatness. If you don’t have a lot of time, but really need some inspiration, check out his 5 minute Friday episodes.
Joe Rogan is a well-rounded, intelligent guy who can spit knowledge on anything from current events to the whole damn universe. These podcasts run about 3 hours long, three times as long as the others in the lineup, but are well worth it. The show is raw conversation between Joe and his guests and are always interesting and entertaining. It’s not just about the expertise of his guests but also the dynamic delivery he possesses. Joe conveys viewpoints that are clear, opinionated and capable of creating insight to open up your thought process while letting his inner comedian shine through.
