How affirmations can change your life

Have you ever been in a funk? I mean a true funk. If you’re lucky, they only last a day or two at the most. But if you’re not so lucky and aren’t proactive about it, they can last a while and sometimes actually transform into something rather serious, like depression.

There’s nothing more draining and actually kind of humiliating when you cannot get yourself out of it. But, you shouldn’t feel guilty about it. We are spiritual humans who have ups and downs and highs and lows. Our minds can dwell on something that is more than likely something important to us and if we are not strong about it, it can suck us in quicker than quick sand.

I am sure you have heard people say, “I need to go for a run and get out of this funk” or “I need a big glass of wine and try to relax”. People turn to different things whether it be yoga, the gym, hanging with friends, speaking to their mom or dad, whatever it may be, more times than most, you know what it is that works for you. I’d like to give you an extra option for when maybe any of those things aren’t quite enough. Really, you can even do this when you’re NOT in a funk. When you simply want to bring more positivity in your life. It could become the best habit you ever make for yourself.

Affirmations. They are sentences aimed to affect the conscious and the subconscious mind. The exact words that you choose should be related to something that you are needing in your life. Saying affirmations are said to automatically and involuntarily bring up related mental images, and they can inspire, energize, and motivate. And if you do it repeatedly, the words start to subconsciously influence your behaviour, actions, and reactions. How cool is that?

So, what is it that you are needing? Are you getting yourself worked up about making a big change in your life? Are you feeling insecure and in turn lashing out on the ones you love? Are you straight up not happy with what you’re doing in your life? Whatever it is, I have high hopes that staying committed to using affirmations in your daily routine could turn your life around.

Here are some super strong examples and inspiration that you could use for yourself:

I am strong and I am capable of anything that comes my way.

Today, I am radiating positive and happy energy. Life is fucking beautiful.

I acknowledge my own self-worth. I am worthy of being happy.

This too shall pass. I must not back down to the tough times in my life.

I forgive myself. Today is a new day and I will carry an open heart.

I am grateful for my health, family, and friends.

I am superior to negative thoughts and self judgement. I will not let them win.

My potential to succeed is undeniable. I have everything I need.

There is something to be learned everyday. I will not let my ego drag me down.

Like I said, these are all examples. But it will give you an idea of how strong and powerful the words should be. I would recommend saying it to yourself in the mirror when you are about to head out for the day. Or maybe even in the car on your way to where you need to be. Something about saying it out loud to yourself though, I feel would pull stronger triggers. The biggest person you have to face is yourself.

I believe everyone in this world should be happy. Life throws us blows, sometimes stronger blows than others. But YOU are capable of anything. Do not let your funk drag you down into funk town. It may sound fun, but it’s not. Happiness starts from within, so let’s start with that!
